    Additional HMI with static view

    Additional HMI with static view

    Hello everyone,

we just have the situation that we want to have an additional HMI view on a different panel.

The DVI-Port is already used. We want an additional panel which can be mounted on top of the CP3916.

This view should only show a few variables and there should be no touch, input etc.

What it the easiest and cheapest way to get the additional view running.

I am afraid these devices won't help in your case. The CX2020 only has one DVI output, so a splitter/repeater cannot generate a second screen content.

Back to the original question: You are asking for the easiest and cheapest way to do this. I guess as always the easiest and the cheapest way are not the same...

What you need is an active device with CPU and Windows OS that can run the SecondHmi runtime. So, these are the possibilities from the Nexeed Automation catalog:

    • C6017 with display
    • VR3112
    • Active mPad

Or alternatively, you use a VPB40 with two graphics outputs instead of the CX2020.

I know none of this possibilities is really cheap. You can probably find cheaper non-standard hardware, but deployment won't work without a Nexeed image and you will not get any support from BCI.

As mentioned the SecondHmi runtime is the solution to just show one view on an additional monitor:

The cheapest solution by hardware costs is probably a USB monitor or USB-to-X adapter. The overall costs are probably more expensive. It requires additional drivers, i.e. if there is no (regular) image backup of the target system or documentation how to setup the target system, a PLC exchange or update of Control plus Master Image is more difficult. Furthermore I have also seen problems with such a solution like flickering display. Support by Bosch Connected Industry will be very limited in these cases.
