    XDK operating range pressure

    Hello,

    Does anyone know how much pressure the XDK can take? I've read the data sheet, but there is only the measurement range listed (300 - 1100 hPa).

    I'd like to place a XDK in a pressure bell, which works with 3-4 bar.

    Hi Philipp,

     

    the Air pressure sensor in the XDK is a "barometric air pressure sensor".

    The BME280 sensor has a measurement range from 300-1100hPa were 1hPa is 100Pa and 100.000Pa is eaqual to 1Bar.

    So the Measurementrange is from 0.3 - 1.1 Bar.

    If you need a higher presssure, you can add an external Sensor to the Extensionport of the XDK.

    Hello Michael,

    Thank you for your answer. For this usecase, it is not necessary to measure the pressure.
    I'd like to measure only temperature and humidity, but I don't know how much pressure the XDK can take until it breaks.

    I can not answer the question directly and have to double check with my hardware colleagues.

    Just my first Idea (and this is maybe not everything what has to be taken into account!), is that I see two critical points:

    1.) The Barometric Air Pressure Sensor part in the BME280, he measures the airpressure "outside" compaired to a inside "reference" Airpressure in a closed chaimber. If you increase the "outside" airpressure the "membrane" between these caimber and the outside my fail / brake. As a result the Sensor is possible damaged / destroid / afterwards less accurate / measuring wrong /...

    2.) The Battery inside is maybe "pressed" together by the airpressur. Mechanical impacts / force to batteries is never a good idea!

    But I'll try to clarify.
